Obituary for Harvey Gene "Bud" Pulley, Huntsville, AR

Harvey Gene "Bud" Pulley, 73, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 2, 2022. He was born on March 17, 1949, in Mullins, South Carolina, to Harvey Monroe and Ruth Sweat Pulley. Bud married Phyllis Spicer on July 27, 1973, in Fort Smith, and together they are parents to two daughters and one son. Bud pastored Huntsville Missionary Baptist Church for the last 34 years. Paul said in the book of Timothy that to aspire to be a pastor is a noble desire, and he desired to pastor until the very end, as shepherding the people of God brought him so much joy. Bud served his country in the United States Air Force for four and a half years, and came to know the Lord during that time. Bud retired from the Arkansas and Missouri Railroad as the Chief Mechanical Officer of Freight and Passenger Cars after working on the railroad for 33 years. He was a member of Operation Lifesaver and taught railroad safety in NWA schools for many years. Bud loved to preach God's Word, share the gospel of Jesus Christ, spend time with his family, and fellowship with his church family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing golf, mowing grass, listening to Southern Gospel music, and watching The Andy Griffith Show. Bud was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Peggy Butler and Nancy Harrelson; one brother-in-law, Bobby Wiggins; and one nephew, Bryan Collins. Bud is survived by his wife, Phyllis Pulley, of the home; two daughters, Jenifer (Jonathan) Phillips, of Huntsville, and Kimberly (Travis) Watkins, of Fort Smith; one son, Patrick (Lindsey) Pulley, of Olympia, Wash.; nine grandchildren, Taylor and Courtney Phillips, Haley, Trace, Madelyn, and Christian Watkins, Kennedy, William, and Knox Pulley; one great-granddaughter, Ryan; two sisters, Judy (Kenny) Collins of Florence, SC, and Marilyn Wiggins of Huntsville; one brother, Jimmy Pulley (Pam) of Marion, S.C.; two brothers-in-law, Mitchell Butler of Nichols, SC, and Larry Harrelson of Marion, S.C.; nephews, nieces, cousins, church family, and many friends. The celebration of his life will be at 2 p.m.,, Friday, August 5, 2022, at Huntsville Missionary Baptist Church, 5602 Hwy 412B, Huntsville; with Jeremy Flanagan officiating, along with other pastor friends. Interment will follow at Sparks Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Patrick Pulley, Jonathan Phillips, Travis Watkins, Jeff Boyd, Kent Cotton, and Jason Rose. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons, Dewey Mott, Larry Bates, Archie Czarnikow, and Cliff Wells. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
