Germany — Harting Applied Technologies was hosting the 12th semi-annual meeting of the WBA Aachen Toolmaking Academy. The focus of the event was on important toolmaking topics of the future.
After Corona prevented the semi-annual meeting of the WBA Aachen Toolmaking Academy in the last two years, the community members of the WBA Aachen Toolmaking Academy now met again for the first time at the winner for an industry exchange.
“We are pleased that we can finally exchange ideas with other industry professionals again after such a long time. The high number of participants shows how important mutual exchange is for the development of the industry,” concluded Dr.-Ing. Volker Franke, Managing Director of Harting Applied Technologies, during his opening speech. More than 90 participants came to the community centre in Espelkamp to find out about innovations in the industry and current projects in the WBA community. It became clear that the megatrends of sustainability, digitalisation and increased efficiency pose a great challenge to the toolmaking industry.
In the subsequent workshops, the focus was on the future of toolmaking. Taking into account various influencing factors, topics were worked out that will move the industry in the coming years. In the process, the picture of the role of megatrends was further consolidated.
Finally, all participants were given a guided tour of the toolmaking department at Harting. In groups, information was provided at various stations on the processes and further developments in injection moulding and die casting mould making. “Such insights are particularly valuable for us. Our members can experience innovation live on site and learn from the best,” said Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Boos, managing partner of the WBA Aachener Werkzeugbau Akademie.
